Can a high school girl in Japan have a job at 17? I'm moving to Japan for one year soon, and living with a host family. It's in the city though, and I don't want to put any strain on their living. I'll be in my senior year of high school there, and I'll be 17 for half the year, and 18 for the other half. Is it possible for me to get a part time job while I'm there at the age of 17? Or do I need to wait until I'm 18? |
♡According to the MOFA site, if you have a 1 year General visa; Precollege Student *; 1 year or 6 months, this falls under the "Statuses of residence not permitting work."
You may want to check the type of visa YOU will have to make sure.
Take a look:
www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/…
If you'd like to check the types of visas that PERMIT you to work, look here:

You can check the MOFA site directly here:

~In my opinion I doubt that you'll be "putting any strain" on the host family. If that were the case I doubt that they would participate in the program.
MOST all jobs in Japan require that you be fluent in Japanese, even at McDonald's.
If you want to work, you should secure a job FIRST, get the working visa and you'll be set.
I would just enjoy the student exchange program for the year. It's a great chance, (*^o^*)~why work?
Hope this helps!
Good luck and enjoy your time in Japan!♡
BTW, your looks have nothing to do with it, it's all about the visa.(^_-)-☆ |
What would it be like for an American school girl to live in Japan? Hi I'm (obviously) from America or The States, and well I have always been obsessed with two main parts of the world, 1. Japan and 2. Paris. In a couple weeks I will be starting a new life in Tokyo Japan and I'm very very nervous because I don't know any Japanese and I just want to know what it will be like in school for me if I don't understand what the teachers are talking about? |
well... japanese school is VERY different than from the states. in japan when you first get to school you change your shoes at little shoe lockers. after that you proceed to homeroom where announcements and other things such as attendance will be taken. many classes are spent in homeroom instead of going room to room like in the states.the only time you leave homeroom are for other classes that require a special room (lab etc..) a club, or for gym. lunch is eaten in homeroom as well.at the end of the day students all get together and clean the school. classes will be extremely hard if you dont understand any japanese. many classes tend to be advanced but not all. also two hours of homework is usually given every night. an average japanese high school day is from
8:30 - 4:00
many students walk or ride bikes, while buses are also taken.
japanese really isnt such a hard language to learn
learn the basics (phonetics) first then start hiragana and katakana after that study all the kanji
kanji and hiragana and katakana are used everyday in japan and english is sometimes (rarely) used |
When will people in japan stop thinking school girl uniforms are cool.? cus its getting old. |
| When they grow up. They keep tninking school girls are virginal, but as you say, so outdated. |
In Japan, are school girl's skirts really as short as the ones in anime? That's ridiculously short!? for example
th09.deviantart.net/fs17/300W/f/2… |
| It probably just depends on each school, like here. I go to a private school. I've seen other schools where their skirts are really long, some about knee length, with ours, we actually have pretty short ones. And we have a MAXIMUM skirt length, where our skirts can't be too long, they have to be at least 5 inches ABOVE the knee, no longer, I know, weird isn't it? So it probably differs between schools. I've seen some in Japan really long, and I've seen others where their cheeks almost hang out. |
What is it like for a 12 year old girl in japan? What is like in a normal day for a twelve or thirteen year old girl in japan? School and for the weekend. Also what are the school hours there and the holiday times. |
I have two daughters in elementary school in Japan. One aged 10 the other 12.
My 12 year old walks to school (about 400 meters away) at 7:50 and returns at about 5:00 after playing with friends for about two hours after school. She used to do Judo twice a week in the evenings. She now does Japanese calligraphy on Saturday afternoons and plays most of Sunday at a girlfriends house.
She has an hour of homework most evenings and does some on Saturday or Sunday night as well.
My daughters have more school holidays (maybe 10 days per year more) than they did back in the US. They are generally not assigned extra homework for those days but have more homework overall.
Many if not most 12-13 year old girls join a sports club and it quickly becomes their most important social outlet. Kids tend to be pretty serious about their clubs for that reason. You will see Jr. high school students and high school in uniforms on the trains and streets on their way to school sports clubs on most Saturdays and Sundays.
The Japanese school year begins in April, not in September like in the United States and other countries. The first term runs to around July 20, when summer vacation begins. Kids return to school in early September for the second term, which lasts until about December 25. The final term begins in early January and continues to late March. |
Is this true that in Japan, they sell soiled panties of school girls on vending machines? Just curious, who would ever buy a soiled panties of unknow person even if she is a school girl in Japan, imagine selling it on vending machines like hamburger or coca cola. What is this world going too? |
| I doubt that is the case that they would promote or allow this, I do know there is a demand for these items in japan and they are sold and dealt with away from the public eye. Its likely that its not just the japanese that have this as you can understand the world we live in today and many different cultures it would be unfair to brand one nation by the acts of so few! |
Anime i can't remember the name of?(a comedy about a guy girl that went to japan to teacher high school girls)? lik i said. it's a comedy. and it was about this guy girl that was like 12 or something and she was a genius (i think she had long blonde hair) and she went to japan to teacher high school...? she had this bunny thing thats name was "mososca" or something lik that that always got hurt? <---but lik in a funny way. What anime school girl can I cosplay? I have always wanted to make japan-style school uniform.
What anime girls you can recommend which would have pretty school uniforms (I don't mind colors but it should be japan style, example: like in anime Kampfer, not simple skirt and jacket like in anime Toradora)? Hair and eyes are not a problem I can use wig and lenses. However I prefer unusual hair color like red, blue, pink and so on.
P.S. It'd better be a good anime >:D
THANKS~ |
